Common sense here is the general rule. It is best to not go from one extreme to another. If you are used to coil support and have no complaints--then stick with coils. Q: DO I REALLY NEED TO BUY A NEW BOXSPRING WHEN I BUY A NEW MATTRESS?
A: It is recommended for the same reason you would buy a new tires with a new car- imagine buying a new car and putting it on old, worn out tires- you get the picture. Obviously if your boxspring is less than 5 years old and looks and feels solid, then you can you use your judgement. Common sense will always answer this question for you.Q: WHAT EXACTLY DOES THE WARRANTY COVER?
A: Obvious manufacturing defects - such as a coil popping out, excessive sagging (usually in excess of 2” or more in 2 or more places) and fabric defects (unraveling, tearing). Most manufacturers will only warranty a mattress purchased with a matching boxspring. Some only require an effective boxspring and/or support system such as a platform bed. All warranties are void if you have any stains of any kind on your mattress. Also floor models do not come with a warranty.
Q: WHAT IF I FIND OUT THAT THE MATTRESS I PURCHASED FROM DISCOUNT MATTRESS IS NOT WORKING OUT FOR ME?
A: We honor a 30 day comfort guarantee on all mattress purchases other than floor models. Simply let us know within 30 days of your delivery date and you can exchange your mattress for store credit less a 20% restocking fee.
Q: WHY IS IT SO HARD TO COMPARE MATTRESSES FROM STORE TO STORE?
A: Excellent question. Here is the answer: If all mattress stores carried the same mattress with the same specs and the same fabric and the same name - here’s what would happen and HAS happened- the customer would be able to pit store against store, citing “they will give it to me down the road at the other mattress store for x amount- can you do better?” This in turn drives the price of that mattress down and down every time the customer exercises this freedom to shop competitively. As a result, mattress prices would have to drop- but in order to stay in business, so would the quality of the mattress industry. Nobody wants that. (Like anything else in life- you get what you pay for.)
A word to the wise here- any mattress store that offers "We’ll give you x percentage off any competitors same or comparable mattress or its FREE" is simply a vague at best and questionable at worst offer. Here is the reason why such an offer is vague and questionable.1. You can argue what is comparable- even with the exact same coil count and gauge - you can argue you don’t know the # of turns to the coil or if it is a bonnell coil or double knotted coil, or some other technical detail type coil. Also even if every single spec was the same but the fabric was different, you could argue it is not comparable because the fabric is different. You see what is happening here? You’re going to be ARGUING! AGHH! Don’t you do that enough in life already?!2. Usually the stores that are able to make those kinds of offers have exclusive contracts with any mattress manufacturer they deal with to have VERY-SPECIFIC-TO-THEIR-STORE-ONLY distinct one-of-a-kind labels, names, fabrics, coil construction, etc.
